What does an entry level dental assistant do?

  • Serve patients that come in for a dental service to their offices.

  • Sterilize instruments and sanitize dental operatories.

  • Set up materials and instruments needed for patient procedures.

  • Assist dentist with dental procedures.

  • Explain treatment plans, schedule, and take payment for dental procedures.

  • Help the dentist keep patients notes up to date with what was completed on the patient.

  • Take and process radiographs after completing the 16 hour SD Board of Dentistry approved course (course included in the ATS curriculum for each 10 week class)

What time and day are your classes?

Classes are every Saturday for 10 weeks from 8am to 5 pm.  The Radiology component requires one additional class day on either a Friday or a Sunday during the 10 weeks depending on the class schedule. 

The classes are located at 2701 S. Minnesota Ave, Ste 3 within the Family Dentistry of Sioux Falls dental office.  Courses are designed to give participants hands-on experience in a real dental office setting.  The morning of each class is the lecture portion and by the afternoon, we transition to all hands-on training!

How much does Tuition cost and what is included in the cost of tuition?

The tuition is an all-inclusive fee that is about 1/3 the cost of traditional one year dental assisting programs. 

Everything you need to complete the course is included in your tuition. This includes:

  • textbooks & materials

  • CPR certification

  • radiology class fee

  • clinical attire

  • lab fees

  • Vaccinations needed for working in a dental office
